Margery J. Wolgast, 94, of Midland, passed away on October 9, 2017 at King’s Daughters Home. She was born on October 16, 1922 in Midland to the late William and Elizabeth (Griffith) Bell. On April 16, 1945 she married William Wolgast who preceded her on December 11, 1986.

Margery honorably served her country during WWII in United States Navy as an aviation machinist. She worked as a secretary for Pine River and Bullock Creek Elementary Schools retiring in 1986. Margery enjoyed traveling, Community Center dances, watching ball games and especially watching her grandchildren play sports. Both she and her husband were avid flower gardeners and she was an outstanding baker.

Margery is survived by her children, William Wolgast, Gary (Joni) Wolgast, Susan (Jerry) Rodeheaver, Joy (Stephen) Wallace and Janeen (Donald) Smith, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Margery was predeceased by her siblings, Raymond Bell, Ralph Bell, James Bell, Ruth Henry and niece, caregiver and best friend Mary Jane Crowell.

Margery’s family wishes to thank the in home caregivers, the caregivers at hospice and King’s Daughters for the excellent care and compassion they provided for their mother.

A Funeral service will be at 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Homer Township Cemetery.
