Marianne Vokal, 64, of Midland, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, with her family by her side. Marianne was born in Grand Haven on March 27, 1949 to Tony and Marian (Hieftje) Jerovsek. On July 18, 1970 Marianne married her sweetheart Derk Vokal. Marianne was a Para-professional at Chippawassee Elementary School for 22 years. She was very involved at Homer United Methodist Church including the Co-Chair of the Holy Walk for many years and a member of the Women’s organization where she touched countless lives through her selfless service. Marianne loved outdoor activities including camping, canoeing, kayaking, boating, cross-country skiing. She loved to work in her flower garden and watching the birds at the feeder. Marianne is survived by her loving husband of 42 years Derk; sons Brian (Katie) of Midland and Todd (Hollie) of Hoschton, GA; 6 grandchildren, Sam, Erin, Tim, Reagan, Jacob, Callie; 2 sisters Nancy (Rick) Justema, Jan (Robert) Swanson; 2 brothers, Dave (Jen) Jerovsek and Anton (Debra) Jerovsek. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday April 13, 2013 atHomer United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dave Mulder officiating. The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Friday, April 12 from 4 until 7 pm and at Church on Saturday from 10 am until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Homer Township Cemetery.
