Welcome to Smith Miner

(January 26, 1943 – February 2, 2013)

Marilyn S. Graham, 70, of Midland, MI, died surrounded by her family on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at University of Michigan Hospital. Affectionately known to her friends and family as Suzie, she was born on Jan. 26, 1943 in Madison, WI to the late Herman and Martha (Daellenbach) Haack. On June 8, 1968, after three years of long-distance courting, Suzie married her sweetheart Andy Graham in Madison, WI. The pair eventually settled in Midland, MI and started a family. Over the years, Suzie was a zoologist, botanist, chef and musician, but gardening was her passion. She plotted her garden and nurtured her seedlings in the spring, tended her heirloom tomato plants throughout the summer, and in the winter, she planned for the next year?ÇÖs bounty. Above all else, though, Suzie was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend who loved to share her garden and baked treats with friends and neighbors all year long. Suzie is survived by her loving husband Andy; daughters, Martha (Fred) Johnson and Katharine Graham; son James Graham; sisters, Carolee, Jonette, and Dottie; and her brothers, Stan and Ron. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, with Reverend Rob Skirving of St. John’s Episcopal Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the service begins.
