Mary (Braley) Parsons, 72, born Sept. 6, 1939 to Loren and Clera (Sandof) Braley, went to be with her Lord and Savior, May 26, 2012 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Merv of 53 years, and sons, Wayne and Lori of Indiana, Chris and Becky of Lakeview, Scott and Gabrielle of Midland and Kevin of Taylor. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; brothers, Roy and Robert; sister, Betty (Orville) Pitts and several sister and brother in laws. In 1948, at age 9, Mary moved next door to Merv. Before ever meeting him, she pointed out the boy closest to her age and proclaimed to her mother, “That’s the one I’m going to marry.” Over the years, they walked to school, went sledding and played sports together. In 11th grade, Merv was called to the principal’s office for giving Mary an engagement ring. The following year, they were married on June 28th. Mary played softball until the age of 65. She enjoyed making jam, quilting and being a Red Hats member. Mary received Midland’s People’s Choice Award for “Best Waitress” for 3 years. She and Merv wintered in Florida for 10 years.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Midland Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Gib Giblin officiating.The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Donor’s favorite charity.Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W.
