(Mary) Jean Perkins, 93, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Midland Kings Daughters. Jean was born on December 16, 1920 in Benton Harbor, MI to the late William and Margaret (Keefer) Kramer. On May 13, 1939 she married Lyle Perkins in Three Oaks Congregational Church . He predeceased her on September 12, 1988. Whenever family was coming for a visit, Jean would bake her famous chocolate chip cookies. Jean enjoyed singing in school plays, church choir, weddings and for herself. She enjoyed painting (both as a student and teacher), cross stitching and collecting rocks and minerals but most of all she enjoyed playing the piano. It brought her and others great joy. Jean was very interested in the history of Three Oaks, the Congregational Church and the Warren ranches out west and worked to preserve and organize the information. She loved to write her personal stories about her life in Three Oaks, fun time with friends and family and recorded 5 CDs of them that the family treasures. Jean is survived by her 3 children; David (Nancy) Perkins of Middleville, MI, Margaret (Byron) Charters of Midland, MI and Douglas Perkins of Myrtle Beach, SC, 6 grandchildren; David Jr., Dalisa, Marc, Michelle, Tim, and Miranda, and 6 great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating Jean’s life will take place at a later date in Three Oaks.The family would like to thank the staff at Kings Daughter’s for their loving care and support and Heartland Hospice for their loving care during her final days.
