Our beautiful mother Mary Naomi Collins, 87, of Midland, was released into the arms of her Lord surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 25, 2016 at MidMichigan Medical Center. She was born in Saginaw on August 30, 1928 to the late Mark J. and Beatrice G. (Rambo) Cheney. On November 3, 1961 she married Fernel Victor Collins who predeceased her on September 13, 2002. Naomi worked as a Registered Medical Tech at Pontiac General and Mount Carmel Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she also did volunteer work. She also volunteered for the DAV and White Cross. She was a member of the Red Hats Society. Naomi enjoyed playing bridge, coin collecting, reading and travel. She traveled many places throughout the world. Her main passion was her family and friends.Naomi is survived by her children, Tracy Brown, Steven (Michele) Collins, Alan (Candi) Collins, grandchildren, Dillon, Austin, Brianna, Tyler, Madisyn, Nathaniel, Emily, Jacob, Lindsey, Bryanna, Jenna, Hunter, and great grandson, Bentley. She was also survived by her sister Grace Smith, and dear friends Pat, Roz, JoAnn and Elaine.Naomi was predeceased by her siblings, Mark Cheney, George Cheney and Eleanor Boe.A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Lara Heise officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, May 31st from 4-7 pm and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will take place at Midland Memorial Gardens.The family would like to thank the staff at MidMichigan Medical Center and Stratford Pines for all of their loving care for Naomi.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the First Baptist Church.
