Merton K. “Mert” Trombley, 80, of Midland, died on Feb. 3, 2012 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland. Mert was born in Saginaw on June 8, 1931 to the late Harvey and Ida (McCullagh) Trombley. On Aug. 29, 1953 Mert married Betty Sawyer who predeceased him on Nov. 23, 1992. Then on Sept. 25, 1993 Mert married Linda King. Mert was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Midland Exchange Club and the Circle Business Association. He and Linda loved spending time in Ft. Myers, Florida. Mert was a 50 year member of the American Legion. Mert is survived by his loving wife Linda; daughter, Lynn Peterson of Midland; sons, Thomas (Mary Ellen) Trombley of Midland, Keiven (Carol) Trombley of Midland; step-sons, Michael (Paula) King of Novi, Brian King of Midland; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and his brother Jerry Trombley of Midland. He was predeceased by his sister Mary O’Laughlin. A Memorial Liturgy will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 at St. Brigids Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly on Monday, Feb. 6 from 4 til 7 pm and at the church of Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the service.
