Michael F. Schymanski, age 49, of Atlanta, Michigan (formerly of Midland) passed away at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey on July 1, 2011, after a long struggle with diabetes. Mike was born on July 21, 1961 to the late Floyd and Gertrude (Connelly) Schymanski. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Card) Schymanski, children, Kara and Scott Schymanski, sister, Karen (Steve) Calkins, parents-in-law, Albert and Mildred Card, sisters-in-law, Jayne (Chris) Sprague and Mary Card, and brother-in-law, Richard Kain. Mike was the proud uncle to Crista (Chris) Dryer, Craig (Kristen) Calkins, Brandon and Jordan Sprague, Adam Kain, and great niece, Cameron Dyer. Mike was predeceased by his parents as well as his sister Trudy Kain. He is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike worked in the construction industry for many years as a pipefitter/welder. He enjoyed all outdoor activities with a special passion for brook trout fishing in the Canada Creek. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 5 at 7 p.m. at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly. Michael’s family will receive friends from 4 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Canada Creek Ranch.
