Michiel D. Somerville, age 64 of Midland, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at his residence. Michiel, the son of Donald and Agnes Somerville was born on Feb. 27, 1945 in Midland County and graduated from Breckenridge High School. Mick moved to Flushing in 1966 where he worked for GM of Flint for 12 years before moving back to Midland and starting, Mike?ÇÖs Bulldozing Service. He enjoyed racing motorcycles and snowmobiles, hunting, fishing and doing body work on cars. In the last months of his life, he wasn?ÇÖt able to get out much due to his health challenges and was looked after by his sister, Connie Chapin who he loved and appreciated. He is survived by his children Bryan (Kellie) Somerville of Midland, Wendy (David) Van Zile of Midland and Michael Somerville of Texas; grandchildren Kelsy and Brandy Somerville, Amanda, David (DJ), Mitchell and Peyton Kobel and Sophie and Zane Van Zile all of Midland. Also, his mother, Agnes Somerville; father Donald Somerville; sisters Connie (Don) Chapin, Loretta (Bernie) Shook of Midland, Mary Ellen (Dean) Noack all also of Midland and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson Brandon Michael Somerville and both of his brothers Donald King and Arthur Somerville. A Funeral Service will be held at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 402 Rodd St., on Tuesday Jan. 5 at 11:00 am with Pastor Lynn Frazier of Gordonville Methodist Church officiating. Michiel will be buried at the Homer Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 4 from 4 til 7 pm and on Tuesday from 10:00 until the time of the service.
