Mona Lou (Thomas) Pritchard, 83, of Midland died peacefully at home with her loving husband at her side, on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Mona Lou was born October 26, 1928, to the late Ray and Opal (Brackett) Thomas of Sears, MI. She was raised on a farm near Sears. Mona Lou graduated from Evart High School in 1946 as Salutatorian of her class and also received the Daughters of the American Revolution GOOD CITIZENSHIP Award. She attended Central Michigan University and obtained her Secretarial Certificate where upon she was recruited in 1947 by Dow Corning Corporation and moved to Midland to work in the Legal Department. Mona Lou was married to Calvin Pritchard on March 27, 1948 in the Methodist Church in Evart, MI. Four children were born to this union, all of whom survive her. A son and daughter-in-law Thomas A. and Karen Pritchard; a daughter, Jean A. Cartmill and fianc?? Roman Kulich of Kirkwood, MO; daughter, Sue Marie Suhr of Coleman; and a son Jon T. Pritchard and fianc?? Wendy McNally of Coleman. Also five grandchildren, three great grandchildren; brothers Lyell Thomas of Sears and Lowell Thomas of Midland. She and Calvin celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2010. Mona returned to work at the Dow Chemical Company after raising her children, working in the U.S. Area Medical Administration Department, H&ES; Regulatory and Legislative Issues, H&ES; and Corporate R&D; and retired from Dow in 1988. Her retirement years were spent enjoying her family and also spending time at their cottage in Lake City as well as a few years wintering in Florida with her husband. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 from 3 til 7 pm at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, Midland.
