Nancy Marie (Strait) Eagle, 68, died on Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 21, 1942 in Midland to Lloyd Ray and Leone Doris (Davis) Strait, the third of six children. Nancy graduated from Midland High School, class of 1960, and earned an Associate Degree from Delta College. She retired from the Midland County Probate Court-Juvenile Division where she worked as a bookkeeper. Nancy married Darrell Glenn Eagle on May 1, 1982. They met while planting trees at the Howard Garrett Arboretum at the Chippewa Nature Center and enjoyed many activities often volunteering there throughout their married life. Nancy enjoyed knitting, tatting, crocheting and quilting. She loved teaching others to quilt. She produced over 200 quilts, all hand quilted, and shared them with her family and friends. She quilted for charitable causes working with the Faith Wesleyan and the Midland Mennonite Church quilting groups. She also loved walking, biking, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, playing games, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Nancy is survived by her husband, Darrell; her sons and their spouses, Fred Edward and Dana Lynne Lauback of Roy, WA, Alan Lloyd and Robin Elizabeth Lauback of Midland, Daniel Lynn and Ramona Jean Lauback of Beavercreek, OH, and Ross Jacob and Stacy Ann Lauback of Charlotte. She was blessed with five grandchildren; Jacob Lynn and Thomas Scott Lauback (Fred), Nathaniel Lee and Bradley Andrew Lauback (Daniel) and Gretchen Chantel Lauback (Ross). She is also survived by her brother, Lloyd Monroe Strait and her sisters, Janet Doris Strait, Linda Leone Strait and Louise Arlene Strait. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Lyle Ray and Lynn Clement Strait. A Memorial Service with be held at Faith Wesleyan Church on Meridian Road on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Dennis Currell officiating.
