Nicholas J. Olson, 21, of Midland, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, June 5, 2016. He was born in Hancock, MI on August 26, 1994 to John and Leah (Dietrich) Olson. Nick was currently attending Central Michigan University with a triple major while interning at PCIA and working at the Mt. Pleasant Hockey Arena. He loved being at the rink and driving the Zamboni. Nick was an avid hockey player and had a legendary wrist shot from the blue line. He shared his passion by coaching both youth and girls hockey. He had a love of music and enjoyed concerts and personally played the drums, guitar and piano. Nick enjoyed spending time with all his friends, especially his best friend, Devin Martin, and making them laugh. Nick is survived by his mother, Leah (Ed) Olson-Perry, father, John (Katrina) Olson, brother, Matthew Olson, sister, Kelsey Olson, step sister, Jordan Perry and step brother, Hunter Perry. He is also survived by his grandparents, Bruce and Nene Dietrich, Chuck (Christine Butler) Olson, step grandparents, Russ and Kay Ackerman, Kathy Perry and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.Nick was preceded in death by his grandmother Judy Olson.A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Gerald Ferguson officiating. Friends may visit with the family at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 8th from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from10 a.m. until the service.
