R. Virginia Phelps, 96, passed away on January 22, 2018 at her home. She was born on July 25, 1921 to the late Joseph and Anna (Kobe) Metesh in Calumet, Michigan

Virginia worked as a secretary in the Office of War Information during WWII and then for the Dow Chemical Company retiring in 1985. She was an avid bridge player, a lifelong and active member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church, and an active community member of Riverside where she lived the last 9 years.

Virginia is survived by her children: Nancy (Mark) Ohlde, Ken Phelps, Kathy (Bill) McDonald, grandchildren; Thea (Jeff) Perry, Erich (Sasha) Ohlde, Kate (Scott) Fink, Joseph (Michelle) McDonald, Timothy (Lauren) McDonald, Erin (Shane) Davidson, Jim Phelps, Jessica Phelps, 6 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.

Virginia was predeceased by her brothers, Joe, John and Ernie and sisters, Mary and Anna.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Riverside Place, 400 E. Main, Midland with Deacon Al Oliver officiating.
