Ray D. Laplow, 85, of Midland, died on Feb. 4, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw. Ray was born in Midland County on Nov. 22, 1926 to the late Charles and Myrtle (Ostrander) Laplow. On Oct. 6, 1951, Ray married his sweetheart, Lois Shepherd in Midland. Ray worked for Dow Chemical until he retired in 1982. He loved car models, camping, woodworking, traveling and dune buggies. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Lois; daughter, Terri (Dave) Rice of Grand Rapids; son, Rick (Joyce) Laplow of Freeland; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Alvia Oliver, Doris Mendyk, Margaret Pnacek, Ethel Pnacek, Hazel Potts, Delores Potts; brothers, Dale and James Laplow. Ray was predeceased by his daughter Angelia Elaine and his brother Charles Jr. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at the Midland Nazarene Church, 5700 Jefferson Ave with Reverends James Adams and David Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 from 4 til 7 pm and at the Church on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the service.
