Welcome to Smith Miner

Ronald F. Green, 65, of Midland, entered into the presence of his Lord peacefully on March 17, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born on November 20, 1954 to Elmer and Charlotte Green in Aztec, New Mexico. He married the love of his life, Sharon, on June 6, 1981 and enjoyed 38 wonderful years together.

Ron was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He worked at Dow Chemical in pharmaceutical research for 26 years. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved studying the scripture and authored a book of Biblical prophecy. In retirement he enjoyed being part of the security team at Calvary Baptist Academy and spending time with his grandchildren.

Ron had many accomplishments but he will be remembered as the greatest dad. He had the perfect dad joke to insert into any conversation. There was not a shortcut that he wouldn’t take or a landmark he could not identify. He taught his girls how to ride bikes and catch a fish. He would sing the same silly song over and over again because it made them laugh. He shared his passion for photography with Krista and his love of scuba-diving with Carrie. He never missed an opportunity to make sure the world knew how proud he was of his daughters. He taught them to be strong independent women but was also always there to rescue them when called upon. There are countless moments like the few listed above, each resonating with love. Ron made sure his family knew how much they were loved every day.

Ron will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Killey) Green, children, Carrie (Mike) Wimmer, Krista (Josh) Sessink, his granddaughters, Onalee, Emery, and Amelia, father, Elmer Green, brother David (Fawn) Green, sisters, Barbara (David) Gosnell, Denise (Craig) Coulter, best friend of countless years, Ken (Linda) Shelley, brother-in-law, Don (Terri) Killey as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte (Russell) Green as well as several aunts and uncles.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on March 20, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church of Midland, MI with Pastor Don Killey and Pastor Dan Dickerson officiating. Due to the current government restrictions, only immediate family may be in attendance. The service will be live-streamed on https://www.cbcmidland.org/live-webcast / for those who are unable to attend.  Memorials can be made to Calvary Baptist Academy in Ron’s memory.

Dear Sharon, Krista, and Carrie – we are saddened to hear of Ron’s passing. We are sorry for your loss and are lifting you up in our thoughts and prayers.

Whenever I have thoughts of Ron three things immediately come to mind. His warm greetings accompanied by a huge smile. His ability to bring up conversation that I had never thought of before that would either challenge me or make me laugh. And the memory of when I visited Sharon and Ron at their home and he handed me my very first model kit… a 1934 maroon Duesenberg Model SJ Torpedo Phaeton.

We will miss Ron. We love you and are praying for you.

I always appreciated Ron’s deliberate, measured, and persevering attitude of study, especially when studying the Bible. I will also never forget the help he gave me years ago when I asked for his help installing and operating a very troublesome computer program…He just would not give up but generously worked for hours analyzing/researching with me to resolve the problem! And yes, he had a sense of humor and a strong sense of responsibility to his family. Finally, I so appreciated his service as a security man at our school. Thank you, Ron…We will meet again in God’s presence!

Our prayers are with you all, that the Lord will comfort and carry you through this time of loss and sorrow. He is the God of all comfort and your strong tower! I have many many fond memories fellowshipping with Ron about things to come. His grave Zeal for the Lord and for eschatology where inspiring and encouraging! We can take comfort knowing that he is probably getting his questions answered, or now that he’s in God’s presence they just don’t matter. Either way he is seeing the Lord as He is, and is completely whole again! This comes to my mind and heart… O how marvelous! O how wonderful! And my song shall ever be: O how marvelous! O how wonderful! Is my Savior’s love for me! Ron knew this oh, so well! We will see him again! Heaven just keeps getting nearer!

I am so deeply saddened by this news. I will always remember Ron very fondly. I will mostly remember the giant grin on his face and the bear-hug he would always greet me with when we hadn’t seen each other for a while. Ron made me laugh, and always had a joke or interesting story to tell. It was so obvious the joy he took from spending time with his grandchildren and how much he loved Carrie and Krista. I have known Ron almost my whole life – I was the flower girl in his wedding to Sharon – a memory I have always cherished. He took time to make me feel like I was someone special. I’m so glad he was my cousin. Sharon – you are very loved, and I am holding you and the girls close in my heart.
