Ronald G. Wendt, 73, of Midland died peacefully at home on Dec. 22, 2011. Ronald was born in Hope on Sept. 22, 1938 to the late Glenn and Frances (Cerva) Wendt. On June 27, 1959 Ronald married his sweetheart Ruth Waterman, who predeceased Ronald in May of 1992. Ron was employed by Faulkner Construction as a painter inside of Dow Corning retiring in 1998 at the age of 60. He was a member of the Painters Local 1803 for over forty years. Ronald was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. Some of his favorite spots to fish were at Indian Lake in the U.P. and Simco, Canada. Ron enjoyed watching the birds and deer in his yard, playing cards, and traveling. Ronald is survived by his daughter Andra (Scott) Grimes of Ellicott City, MD; grandchildren, Jordan (9) and Jacob (6); sister Lois Thurston and brothers Rex (Rose) and Alan (Carol). Ron is also survived by many, nieces, nephews, and close friends. Ronald was predeceased by his son Ronald G. Wendt, Jr. and brother-in-law Jerry Thurston. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, with Rev. James Barnhart of Wesley Chapel officiating. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday, Dec 26 from 3 til 8 pm and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Midland Memorial Gardens.
