Rosa has slipped the bonds of her earthly body and her spirit can soar. Rosa was born in Thornfield, Missouri on August 11, 1915 to Neal and Ora Humbyrd. She married Leonard Haskins in 1932 and they began raising their family of four children. Leonard found work in Midland in 1940 and moved his family here shortly after. Rosa worked to help the family and was employed by McIntyre?ÇÖs Restaurant, the Dow Cafeteria and finally McKay?ÇÖs Press and Pendall Press. Leonard died in 1961 and Rosa married Cecil Carvella in 1981. Rosa was widowed in 2000.Rosa was always a busy energetic woman who loved to plant and grow things. When she had space she had a large garden so that she could can fruits and vegetables. Rosa also enjoyed quilting and made quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. Rosa?ÇÖs greatest pleasure and pride was her family. She had family dinners for every holiday and any other opportunity just to gather the family together. She retired from preparing the large dinners when she was eighty-two and put the gatherings in the hands of her family.Rosa attended church at the Church of God when it was on Jefferson, then East Ashman and finally at Eagle Ridge. She enjoyed the fellowship and friendships she made there for many years.Surviving Rosa are her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Ray Shangle: daughters-in-law, Marilyn Haskins and Martha Florin Haskins; grandchildren, Deborah (Steve) Zuccarini; Bryan (Louise) Haskins; Dee (Kevin) Eidson; Linda Haskins, Julie (Jeff) White, Richard (Mindy) Haskins, Cindy (Phil) Lowery; Mitchell (Amy) Kauffman; Larry (Camille) Kauffman; great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Ben Eidson; Kara Haskins; Melody, Becca, Luke and Lydia Lowery; Chris and Marisa White; R.J. and Sarah Jane Haskins; Shawna (Steven) Zsinko and Ken Zuccarini; Elissa and Michele Kauffman; great-great grandchildren, Camden Bryant and Colt Zsinko; sister and brother-in-law, Lucille (Russell)Sanders; brother-in-law, John Haskins.Rosa was predeceased by her husbands Leonard Haskins and Cecil Carvella; sons, Bobby (infant), Jack and Joe Haskins; grandson, David Shangle; great-grandson, Joel Lowery; her sisters, Lennie McIntsoh and Leona Hodges and her brothers, Ira Humbyrd and Sam Humbyrd.Rosa?ÇÖs family will celebrate her joyous 100 years on earth in June.
