Russell Ayres, 86, of Midland, died unexpectedly, on Nov. 19, 2011 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland. Russell was born on Sept. 11, 1925 in Campbell, MO. to the late Luther R. and Elvia (Siggers) Ayres. ON Sept. 2, 1949 Russell married his sweetheart June Hardisty at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Flint. Russell loved to fish, hunt, snowmobiling and the great outdoors. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Russell is survived by his loving wife June; his daughters, Mary (Scott) Rule of Marquette, MI, Susan (Angelo) Genovesi of Gaylord, Jan Ayres of Midland, Ann (John) Johnson of Marquette; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and sister, Lilian Reeves of Kalamazoo. Russell was predeceased by his sons Russell and Steven; and his brother John. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with Father Peter Gaspeny officiating. The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Tuesday, Nov. 22 from 4 til 7 pm, and at the church on Wednesday, from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
