Welcome to Smith Miner

(January 19, 1963 – March 29, 2010)

Sgt. David E. Trask, 47, of Midland, died unexpectedly on March 29, 2010. David was born on Jan. 19, 1963 in Midland to Dorothy (Yelton) and Jack Trask. When David and Cindy Ceckiewicz married on Oct. 15, 2000 they each found their sweetheart, soul mate, best friend and love of their lives. David had the need for speed, he loved fast cars and fast boats. He loved water skiing (a big passion of his), boating, paddleball, and Frisbee (he could do amazing tricks with a Frisbee). He loved to have fun, making people laugh and getting people involved. He was a clown at heart and was always clowning around. Recently David taught “A-man” (Aaron his son) how to play rock-paper-scissors. David was a proud member of the Midland City Police Department for 18 years the last 6 as a Sergeant. In all, David was a police officer for over 21 years. He was proud to wear the Police uniform and he always treated everyone with respect. David is survived by his wife Cindy, son Aaron; daughters, Stefani, Jennifer and Rachel; parents, Jack and Dorothy; sister, Diane Clements; brothers, Charles, Robert and John; his dog Allie; his Siamese cat Mya; and his best childhood friend Joe Stitzel. A Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Monday, April 5, at 11:00 am with Pastor Neil Wiggins of the Hope Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends on that Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider giving to the David Trask family for Aaron’s college fund. Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly is assisting the family. Online memories are available at www.smithminer.com
