Sophia Katsarelas Foulds, 84, passed away February 24, 2011,in her home in Midland, Michigan. Sophia was born July 21, 1926, in Saginaw, Michigan, to George and Angeline Katsarelas. Sophia attended Saginaw High School and graduated in 1944. She entered the workforce after high school and worked as a secretary and junior accountant for Wagner and Lunt CPA?ÇÖs. She married James K. Foulds August 12, 1950. Together they had three children, Sharon, James and Steven.Sophia lived in Saginaw for most of her life. She was a loving and caring mother and housewife. She was active in several organizations over the years. These activities included: Treasurer for the Fuerbringer Elementary School PTA and a Den Mom for Cub Scouts in the 1960?ÇÖs; Treasure and President of the Saginaw Town Hall Lecture Series in the 1970?ÇÖs and 80?ÇÖs; Warden of St. Mathew?ÇÖs Episcopal Church in the 1990?ÇÖs; and Officer and Director of her family?ÇÖs business ?Çô Johnson Carbide Products, Inc. ?Çô in the early 2000?ÇÖs. She lived with family in Midland for the last five years.Sophia was pre-deceased by her husband of 52 years, James K. Foulds, a long-time Saginaw area CPA and entrepreneur. Her brother, Nicolas G. Katsarelas of Dearborn Hts., MI also pre-deceased her.Surviving relatives include: children Sharon K. (James) McCarthy, Indianapolis, IN; James E. (Kathleen) Foulds, CPA, Midland, MI; Steven K. (Janice) Foulds, Indianapolis, IN; a sister, Helen Zondlak, Midland, MI; several brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews. Grandchildren Alicia (Ahdy) Messiha, Stephen, Ryan, Cory, and Kevin McCarthy; Luke, Joe, Tess and Jason Foulds; Aaron Dillo; and great grandson, Abram Messiha.Family would like to thank The Ray of Hope of Midland and The Mid Michigan Medical Center?ÇÖs Home Care and Hospice Teams for their tender loving care of Sophia over the last four months. Those wishing to make a memorial in honor of Sophia are asked to consider the Alzheimer?ÇÖs Association of Midland.Funeral Services will take place at the Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, Midland, MI. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM Monday, February 27, 2011. Service to begin at 10:30 AM with Pastor Gib Giblin officiating. A private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw, MI.
