(The Tank with love, AKA Stanley Paskiewicz)Long time Midland resident, Stanley Thomas Paskiewicz, passed away on the 11th of October 2010. He was 92 years old and is survived by his children; Patricia Kaweck and S. Thomas Paskiewicz, and grandchildren; Sarah Griggs, Jacob Kaweck, and Molly Kaweck. Stan was born and raised in Saginaw MI and graduated from Saginaw High School where he was an All State Basketball player. A graduate of Central Michigan University with a B.S. degree in art where he lettered in three sports, and a Masters of Administration degree from the University of Michigan, his college education was briefly interrupted when he was drafted for World War II. During his time of service Stan became a decorated war hero receiving two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star for valor above and beyond the call of duty. Upon his return to the United States Stan was honorably discharged as a Captain in the United States Army. Stan?ÇÖs teaching career began at St. James High School and Ann J. Kellogg School in Battle Creek. He later taught art and physical education as well as coached and became Athletic Director at Central Intermediate School in Midland. He retired after 37 years of service in education. He became the first recipient of the Lloyd Osborn Memorial Award. A Graveside Service will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Gladwin on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 11:00 am. Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly is assisting the family.
