Welcome to Smith Miner

Stanley Ross Dulaney Jr., 45, of Midland, was killed by a reckless driver on New Year’s Day as he was driving his son back to college. Stan was born on January 2nd, 1973 in Bay City to Kathleen and Stanley Ross Dulaney Sr.

Stan enjoyed playing sports. That love of sports began with little league. In high school, Stan played varsity basketball and set records for the track team at Western High School. His love of sports was passed on to his children. He coached all of his kids’ soccer teams, taking his U14 girls’ team to the state cup and winning the Junior State Cup. The past two years Stan had coached his youngest son, Liam, and Granddaughter Italy. This last summer, at age 45, Stan and his men’s soccer team won their third Adult League championship.

Family was the most important thing in Stan’s life. He met his wife, Marissa, in high school. The high school sweethearts would later go on to have four children. Stan especially loved spending his summers with his family. Often going camping and visiting the beach. He always worked relentlessly to take care of his children. The next most important thing in his life was chocolate, more specifically Reese’s peanut butter cups. His chocolate addiction could be witnessed by many, especially in the evenings he spent on the couch watching television with his family.

Stan was a natural born leader whose sole goal was to provide for his family. He strove for success in all that he did, even starting his own contracting business at a young age. His love of sports ultimately led him to design and construct the Tri-City Sports Complex to bring the community together in a space where athletes of all ages could pursue their dreams. Stan’s life was short, but his love for his family and the community was large.

Stan is survived by his wife, Marissa Rose Dill; sons, Drew Thomas Dulaney and, Brandon Michael Dulaney, Liam Ross Dulaney; daughter, Tessa Rose Dulaney; daughter in-law, Trazon Downs; and Granddaughters Italy Margie Anne Downs and Briar Rose Dulaney. Stan is also survived by his parents Pastor Stanley Ross Dulaney and Kathleen Dulaney; as well as siblings Amy and Gary Witzgall, Timothy and Michelle Dulaney, Charity and Eric Noeker, and Joy and Kris Dowd.

Please join us for a celebration of Stan’s life at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Family Baptist Church, 3530 Midland Rd, Saginaw, MI.  Visitation will take place at the church on Friday, January 11th from 6-8 pm and on Saturday, January 12th from 12 pm until the time of service.
