Lance Corporal Steven John Szymanski, 24, passed away on October 21, 2014 during a training exercise in North Carolina with the United States Marine Corps. Born October 11, 1990 in Midland. MI, he was the son of John and Dawn (Marcoux) Szymanski.Steven proudly served his country, enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps in September 2013 after earning an Associate?ÇÖs Degree in Criminal Justice. He graduated from Midland High School in 2008. Steven loved to take his Doberman, Dag, on long runs with him. He enjoyed weight lifting, hanging out with friends (who called him Shiz), listening to music, hiking, fishing, hunting and golfing. He was always smiling and trying to make people laugh and ready to listen and help out when he could. He was loved by many and will forever be in our heartsHe is survived by his parents John and Dawn (Marcoux) Szymanski, sister Ashlie Szymanski (Steve Kuehne), maternal grandparents Jim and Judy Marcoux, paternal grandparents Len and Dee Szymanski, several aunts and uncles — Debbie (Tim) Barr, Sheri (Jim) Matthews, Jim (Jennifer) Marcoux, Ray Szymanski, Debbie (Steve) Chester, Mark (Leslie) Szymanski, Mike (Penny) Szymanski, Greg Szymanski and many cousins.A Funeral Service for Steven will be held at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 11am with Fr. Robert Gohm officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 4-7 pm and on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will be at Midland City Cemetery directly following the service.
