Thomas Anthony Foos, 75, of Midland, died in Mesa, Arizona, on December 8, 2011. Thomas was born in Freemont, OH to the late Alvin and Isabel (Gross) Foos on Dec. 17, 1935. On Oct. 1, 1960 he married Audre Wolf at Sacred Heart Church in Freemont Ohio. Thomas graduated from St. Joseph High School, Fremont, OH in 1954. He then served honorably in the US Army as a cook from 1955 – 1957. He graduated from Culinary Institute of America in 1959. After which he attended Michigan State University in 1960. Thomas worked in the food service industry most of his life, retiring in 1997 as a Vice President of Canteen Service in Grand Rapids. He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and a previous member of Midland Exchange Club, where he enjoyed marching in the Memorial Day Parade and handing out flags. He was also a member of the Midland Redcoat for many years, volunteering at the ball park to help make the tournaments such a success. Thomas loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved horse racing, flea marketing, reading and antiquing. He had an extensive collection of Kentucky Derby glasses. Thomas loved spending winters in Arizona. Thomas is survived by his wife Audre; children, Christine (Fred) Cotaras of Ottawa, Canada, Allen (Laura) Foos of Plymouth, Kathryn (David) Klawuhn of Freeland, Michael (Diane) Foos of El Dorado Hills, CA; grandchildren, Christopher, Laurel and Michael Cotaras of Ottawa, Austin and Hailee Foos of Plymouth, Jaclyn Leach of Freeland, Robbie and Olivia Foos of El Dorado Hills; siblings, Jean (Wayne) Tuckerman, of Perrysburg, OH, Elizabeth Foos (Sister of Mercy) of Toledo, OH, John Michael (Sue) Foos of Maumee, OH; sister in law, Donna Foos of Freemont, OH; brother and sister in law, Tom and Marlene Wolf of Fremont, OH. Thomas was predeceased by his brother Robert. A Memorial Liturgy will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, Dec. 19, 2011 at Assumption BVM Catholic Church with Father Kevin Maksym the Liturgent., The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly on Sunday, Dec. 18 from 5 pm until 6:30 pm at which time a Vigil Service will be held, and at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
