Vernon R. Wolfgang, 85, of Sanford, Michigan, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 at home in Sun City West, Arizona. He was born on October 30, 1934 in Midland, Michigan, the son of Edmund and Myrtle (Easlick). He graduated from Ithaca High School, Ithaca, Michigan. He worked at Dow Chemical Company for 37 years.

Vern married Barbara Tucker in April of 1963. They had two sons: Timothy and Thomas. Vern loved working with his hands and built many beautiful pieces of furniture for family and friends.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara, a sister Elaine (Patrick) Butcher and brothers Doyle (Trudy), Joseph (Leah), Clayton, Burton and Carlton Wolfgang.

In May of 2010 Vern married Maxine Riffil in Sanford, Michigan.

He is survived by his wife Maxine, sons Timothy of Clarkston, MI, and Thomas (Ameillia) of Manor, TX, and stepsons Robert Riffil of Allen Park, MI and Randy Riffil of Taylor, MI. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Joyce (Dale) Wolfgang of Breckenridge, Elaine (Burton) Wolfgang and Opal (Clayton) Wolfgang of Midland, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held at the Church of Nazarene in Sun City, Arizona on February 20, for all of his Arizona friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Midland Nazarene Church, 5700 Jefferson Ave., Midland, MI for his family and Michigan friends with the Reverends Charles Jacobson and JP VanDalsem officiating. Visitation will be of Friday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.

Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Veterans organization of your choice.

    Maxine & family,
    Sorry I did not make it to the service on Friday. We were up with Sharon, Butch’s wife and went to visit with Butch several times. My sympathy to the family. May god comfort you during this time.
