Welcome to Smith Miner

(August 4, 1924 – August 15, 2015)

Veronica (Ronnie) Mary Cermak passed away on Saturday, August 15, eleven days after her 91st birthday on August 4. She kindly let all of her well-wishers celebrate this special occasion with her before, in her own style, she quietly slipped away. The day before her passing she said that she had a great life and she was ready. Unfortunately for her family and friends there would never be time enough time to spend with Ronnie. She was loved and cherished by her siblings and was very close to her family. Surviving her are her elder brother, Lawrence J. Schatzlein, and younger sisters, Dorothea de Lannoy, Muriel B. Polett and Marie Ann Gibson, as well as many nieces and nephews.Born in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, Ronnie earned her bachelor and master’s degrees from New York University. She had a successful career as a Wall Street stock broker before she met Robert Cermak while on an African safari. He gave all of Midland a gift when they married and she relocated to Midland. They had many wonderful years together before he passed away in 1993.Ronnie loved to travel and visited most places on the globe. She was particularly intrigued with locales off the beaten path as she learned the most from these exotic adventures. Remarkable among her many qualities were her span of friendships and her passion for alleviating the hardships of others. Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated with no memorial service. As her family and friends join in remembering Ronnie, they may keep in mind the words she often chose as a salute to others which she so well deserves: a “tip of the hat”, to you, Ronnie, for a life well lived.Veronica?ÇÖs arrangements have been entrusted to Smith-Miner Funeral Home.On Line condolences can be given at smithminer.com
