Welcome to Smith Miner

Vivian Melton, 92, of Midland joined our heavenly father on September 2nd, 2021 surrounded by her family.  She was born on August 4th, 1929 to the late Orie and Velma (Tripp) Church. She married Otis Rickett on April 12th, 1948, and he preceded her in death in May of 1979. She then married Robert J. Melton on August 27th, 1982 and he preceded her in death September 6th, 1996.

Vivian was very active at Midland Missionary and being a Cub Scout Leader, and her family meant the world to her.

Vivian is survived by her children David (Vanessa) Rickett, Michael (Christine) Rickett, Otis (Martha Lister) Rickett Jr., and Sue (Cindi) MacDonald, 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother in-law Duane Tracy, sister in-law Alice Parry

She is predeceased by her son, Timothy Rickett, brothers, Gerald (Florence) Church, Orie Dean Church, sister, Shirley Tracy, grandchildren Donovan MacDonald, Amanda Oldham and great-granddaughters Alexis and Stephanie Rickett and Kassandra.

A funeral service will be held on Friday September 10th at 11 am at Floyd Church of God with Pastor Steve Gulick officiating. A visitation will take place at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Thursday September 9th from 4pm – 7pm, and at the church on Friday from 10am until time of service.

In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Mid-Michigan Hospice and Midland Community Cancer Service.
