Wanda May Meekhof, 84, of Midland, died on February, 17, 2012, at Tendercare Midland. Wanda was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Redding Township, Clare County, to the late Arthur James Gallery and Hattie Grace (Dodd) Gallery. She married Lewis John Meekhof in Midland on April 10, 1948. He died on January 24, 1991. Wanda graduated from Hayes Agricultural High School in Harrison, Michigan, on May 15, 1945. She worked as an Office Clerk in Saginaw prior to her marriage. She later worked as a housekeeper for the Herbert H. Dow family for 33 yrs. Wanda loved to read and sew. She made her own patterns for sewing out of newspaper. She enjoyed playing her organ. She taught herself how to play the organ, guitar and piano, never having the money for lessons. Wanda is survived by her three daughters; Margie Randolph of Reed City, Gloria Dole and Peggy Balash both of Midland; a sister, Alice Rumery of Midland; brother, Jack (Sue) Gallery of Saginaw; five grandchildren, Tim (Laurie) Marsh, Steve (April) Marsh, Fred (Marci) Marsh, Chris Bartlett, and Jenny Bartlett; step-grandchildren, Justin, Jason, Julie and Amy; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Meekhof, Eleanor Defrees, Bessie Darland; three brothers, Irvin and Art Gallery and Alvin Schram. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly with Reverend Jim Shanks officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 from 4 til 6 pm and on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
