William Francis Scott, 90, of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living in Midland. He was born in Midland on July 10, 1925 to the late Earl and Ella (Gleason) Scott. He attended grade school at St. Brigid?ÇÖs Catholic School and then attended Midland High School graduating in 1943. He served in the European Theater during World War II. He was employed by Dow Chemical Co., Midland for over 55 years. He married the former Joyce Helen Naessens on April 14, 1956 at Sacred Heart Church in Merrill. She predeceased him on May 10, 1998.The most important things in life to Bill were his Catholic Faith and his family. In earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, vacations to Houghton Lake, and he was an avid reader. Surviving are his daughters, Karen (Robert) Niedzielski of Naperville, Illinois, and Janice Scott of Midland, sons David Scott and Jon Scott of Midland, grandchildren, Kathryn Niedzielski of Milwaukee, WI and Steven Niedzielski of Manassas, VA, brother-in-law, Ernest (Sam) Naessens of Merrill, brother-in-law the Rev. Fr. Philip Naessens, O.F.M. Cap. of Detroit, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid Catholic Church on Friday, July 8th at 11:00 am. The Rev. Frs. Philip Naessens and Patrick O?ÇÖConnor will officiate with burial in Old Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Thursday, July 7th from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
