William Overton Varner (January 13, 1930 ?Çô January 11, 2015)William “Bill” Varner, 84, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Belle Oakes Living Center in Lake City, MI. He was born January 13, 1930 in Midland, MI. Bill joined the Dow Corning Corporation as a summer employee at the age of 18. After graduating from college and serving in the US Air Force in Prestwick Scotland, Bill rejoined Dow Corning in 1956 as a sales and marketing professional. Over the next 36 years, Bill worked in a variety of corporate locations including Michigan, Tennessee, New York, and Ontario, Canada. After retiring in 1992, Bill enjoyed the life of a ?Ç£Snowbird?Ç£ between Rotonda West, FL and Lake City, MI.Bill was an MSU and Penn State Alumni, an avid hunter and outdoorsman, a lifelong golfer and an ardent football and baseball fan. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge.He was predeceased by his parents, Homer and Margaret Varner, sister, Wilma and wives Agnes Taylor and Shirley Hirth.Bill is survived by three children, Kurt Varner of Slidell, LA, Kelly Ford of Canyon Country, CA and Kevin Varner of Victor MT; a brother Jan Varner of Victor, MT; and three grandchildren Taylor, Erin, and Ryan. A Funeral Service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 11:00 am with Reverend Gerald Ferguson officiating. Visitation will held at the church on Tuesday form 10 am until the time of service. Friends are encouraged to join the family for a luncheon reception immediately following the service.
